Forrist is the UK’s first ever plastic free, organic, plant-based online supermarket, located on Hornsey Road in Holloway, Islington. Our goal is to make conscious, sustainable shopping accessible to everyone, so that anyone can live a waste-free lifestyle. We’re always trying to push ourselves to do more and further embrace a conscious approach to shopping, like offering free essentials with every shop, such as reusable menstrual cups and organic coconut shaving oil, and hosting frequent giveaways and offers on our site as well as on our Instagram. We’re not radical eco-warriors, we just care about our planet and the people we share it with, and want our customers to enjoy the pleasure and fulfilment of sustainable, plastic-free, organic, plant-based shopping with convenience and confidence.

A climate emergency was declared in Islington on 27 June 2019, the same year Forrist was born. Islington council unanimously supported a motion committed to making Islington net zero carbon by 2030. By having our waste conscious, plastic free shop in the heart of Islington, we feel proud to do our part to help our community dedicate themselves to a more sustainable lifestyle. And we ship all over the UK and Ireland, with free next day delivery on orders over £75. We aim to keep expanding our business, making waste-conscious shopping simple and easy for everyone.
Not zero waste, Waste conscious
Zero waste is a term that’s thrown around a lot these days, but it’s a word we like to refrain from using here at the Forrist, as we feel it doesn’t do our mission justice. Zero waste has become such a buzzword that the meaning is often lost on people, and is seen as more of a quick selling point then a dedicated approach to sustainability. We prefer to use the term waste conscious. A waste conscious approach means not just opting for sustainable options, but being conscious of how and why they are sustainable and understanding the life-cycle of everything we buy. It’s about understanding the impact of our consumer habits and making better decisions where and when we can.
