Organic Sunflower Seeds
Organic sunflower seeds provide almost the recommended amount of vitamins, minerals and other antioxidants in just one handful. These seeds are delicious toasted in soy sauce and sprinkled over salads.
How To Cook
Season the dried Sunflower seeds to taste. Separate out the Sunflower seeds on a lightly greased cookie sheet for even roasting. Put the seeds in the oven at roughly 177ºC for 12-15 minutes. Toss the seeds every 5 minutes to ensure even roasting. When they are golden brown, they are ready to serve. The sunflower is native to North America but their range also extends through Canada, Mexico and Central america. Sunflowers are left to grow until they start to die off and so naturally begin to dry out and as they begin to do this the head off the plant is removed and left to completely dry. The sunflower seeds are then removed and washed and they are often sold with their outer shells. But if being sold unshelled then they are removed using a machine and cleaned again.
