Organic Arborio Rice
Organic arborio rice is your go-to when making a risotto. The plump grains meld perfectly with stock and seasonal veg to make the deliciously filling Italian dish.
How To Cook
You can cook Arborio rice as you would regular rice:
In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of salted water to boil over medium-high heat.
Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil or butter
Return to a boil.
Add 1 cup of Arborio rice.
Cover and reduce heat to medium-low.
Simmer until liquid is fully absorbed and rice is al dente, which will take about 20 minutes.
How Its Grown/Processed
This rice is named after the area in Italy where it was originally cultivated. Rice requires a lot of water to grow and so the fields will be flooded and then the seeds are sowed. Once the plants have grown and finished flowering the rice grains become starchy. When the summer heat evaporates the water from the fields the rice can be harvested by cutting the plant and leaving them to dry and then the rice grain is removed from the stalk by hand or machine. The rice is then left to dry again and then milled to remove the husk and bran layer.
